CAC – Clinical Academic Centres
To date, eight clinical academic centres have been created in Portugal, associating organic units of higher education institutions with healthcare and research units.

Consortium between the Porto Hospital Centre, E. P. E., and the University of Porto, through its organic unit Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar;
University Medical Centre FMUP - CHSJ
Consortium between the São João Hospital Centre, E. P. E., and the University of Porto, through its organic unit Faculdade de Medicina;
Clinical Academic Centre of Coimbra CHUC - UC
Consortium between the Coimbra Hospital and University Centre, E. P. E., and the University of Coimbra;
Algarve Biomedical Research and Training Academic Centre
Consortium between the Algarve Hospital Centre, E. P. E., and the University of Algarve through its research center CBMR – Center for Biomedical Research and its Department of Biomedical Sciences and Medicine.
Beiras Academic Clinical Centre
Consortium between the Centro Hospitalar Cova da Beira, E. P. E., the Local Health Unit of Guarda, the Local Health Unit of Castelo Branco, the Tondela-Viseu Hospital Centre, E. P. E., the University of Beira Interior, through its Health Sciences Faculty and Health Sciences Research Centre, the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco, through its Escola Superior de Saúde Dr. Lopes Dias, the Polytechnic Institute of Guarda, through its Escola Superior de Saúde, and the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu, through its Escola Superior de Saúde.
